Everything you need to book a Poppy Appeal collecting shift with your local branch.

1. Sign up

  1. Click Sign up at the top of any page.
  2. Fill in your name, email and a phone number your organiser can reach you on during the appeal.
  3. Choose your Legion branch. Type your town or county in the search box above the list to find it quickly.
  4. If you’re booking for a group (Brownies, Scouts, a fire crew, a team at work), put the group’s name in Group or organisation.
  5. Choose a password of at least 8 characters, tick the two boxes and click Create account.

You need to be 18 or over to have an account. Young people collect as part of a group booked by their adult leader.

2. Book a shift

After signing up you’ll see your branch’s shifts, grouped by day. Each shift shows the time, where it is, and a row of poppies, one for each place:

A red poppy is a place someone has taken. A pale one is free.

  1. Find a time that suits you. If your branch collects in more than one place, use Location at the top to pick one.
  2. Choose Just me, or how many people are coming (up to 20). If more than one of you is coming, add the group’s name.
  3. Click Book. The shift turns green and you’ll get a confirmation email with buttons to add it to your calendar, and a link to cancel if your plans change.

Full shifts are hidden to keep the list short. Tick Show full shifts to see them all.

3. See or cancel your shifts

Click My shifts at the top of the page to see everything you’ve booked, with the address of each place. Add to calendar puts a shift in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, with a reminder an hour before. Add all my shifts to my calendar does them all at once.

To cancel, click Cancel next to the shift, or use the Cancel this shift link in your confirmation email (no need to log in). You can do this up to 24 hours before it starts. After that, contact your branch organiser so they can find someone else; their email is shown next to the shift if your branch has given one.

Who’s collecting

Click Who’s collecting at the top of the page to see your branch’s whole rota laid out day by day, with each location side by side and who’s on each shift. Your own shifts are marked You. Shifts still needing people are marked in red.

4. On the day

5. Your account

6. Put it on your phone

You can add the rota to your phone’s home screen so it opens with one tap, like an app. See how to add it to your phone.
